Training and Behaviour
Consultations take place in your own home.
Behavioural consultations are designed to help with a wide variety of issues you may be experiencing with your dog, including such things as:
- Fear and phobias (e.g. of loud noises such as fireworks or household objects);
- Disobedience;
- Aggression;
- Separation anxiety;
- Pulling on the lead;
- Eating disorders (e.g. fussy eaters);
- Nervousness;
- Chasing;
- Roaming;
- Sexual Mounting;
- Jumping up;
- Mouthing/teething;
- Compulsive disorders (e.g. tail chasing, self mutilation, etc);
- Toilet training...
...and everything else in between!
A typical consultation will involve Sarah visiting your home to assess your dog and discuss with you what the issue(s) are. She will ask you questions relating to a normal day in your dogs life - what the routine is, what happens when you leave the house, what happens when you go for a walk, how your dog reacts to certain stimuli, etc.
Follow-up support will be provided by email or telephone if required, following your consultation. The number of consultations required varies greatly with each case. This will be discussed with you during the initial assessment. Ultimately, success at behaviour modification is dependent on the amount of time and commitment you can put into your dogs rehabilitation and training, and of course, whether they are in the right environment for progress to be made.
Some behavioural problems are harder to fix than others, Sarah will always offer a realistic and honest opinion of the situation. On most occasions, only one consultation is ever needed. This will be discussed further during the initial email or telephone conversation.
Puppy Training
Suitable for dogs up to about 6 months of age. Ace Animals will cover things such as basic "sit", "stay", "lie down" commands and basic heel work on the lead. We can also cover things such as toilet training, introduction to other family pets and people, socialisation, getting your puppy used to strange places and loud noises and many other different things - just ask!
Aggression Cases
If you would like Ace Animals to help with a dog that is aggressive towards other dogs or people, depending on the severity of the case, we may require that the dog is muzzled prior to the visit. This will be discussed fully with you during the initial email or telephone conversation. Unlike many other pet behaviourists and trainers, Ace Animals DOES deal with dog-human aggression cases.

ALL consultations last between 1 and 2 hours.
